Musculoskeletal disorders in pig maternity

Cases of arthritis and panaritium frequently occur in swine maternity and usually require early antibiotic treatment in order to ensure chances of recovery. Most of the time, this involves the secondary infection of wounds from germs present in the piglet’s environment or on the skin. All measures, including biocontrol, aimed at improving hygiene and influencing the skin microbiome can have a positive effect in limiting these musculoskeletal disorders. Spraying barrier flora on the piglets and their environment enables the development of positive flora starting at birth.
