Research & Development

The R&D team brings together a wide range of complementary profiles with the goal of developing effective solutions adapted to the farm. The team includes technicians, engineers and doctors in microbiology, animal reproduction science and veterinary medicine.

The R&D work carried out has been the subject of 11 patent filings, some of which have already been granted in several countries, which certifies the innovative nature of our activity.

Strain selection

The entire process of product development requires expertise in microbiology, from the initial screening of strains, to the assessment of their development conditions, to the mastery of their fermentation, to the analysis of their activity and modes of action. This knowledge is essential for selecting strains that can be used in livestock farming.

Protocol development

A second aspect of Nolivade R&D is the development of protocols for using the flora. This requires in-depth knowledge of livestock farms, the problems they face, the germs and risk periods for animals in order to determine where and when to apply positive bacteria. Based on the problem, the effective strategy may require biocontrol for the environment, the animal’s skin, its intestinal tract or even respiratory tract. Furthermore, biocontrol protocols complement sound animal husbandry practices (cleaning, disinfection, water treatment and the management of environmental conditions) and must therefore be integrated into these practices. Together, they enable the Sustainable Management of livestock farms.

Another key focus in protocol development is the application of barrier flora. The mode of application is decisive in ensuring effective biocontrol. The choice of the application method must take into account technical and practical aspects for livestock farmers. Depending on the products and protocols, the bacteria can be applied either by spraying, nebulizing, added to drinking water, or by soaking. We are also conscientious in identifying the best tool for effectively and safely applying the bacteria, for example with spray droplets of optimal size, and a suitable application time.

We work directly with livestock farmers on all of these developments, through tests at livestock farms and experimental stations, to quantify the benefits of our flora and validate protocols and modes of application.

Associated services

To better assist you in the use of our products, we have also developed associated services. These services include comprehensive kits, application tools, and technical support, for example with the Noliscore application for dairy cows. These services facilitate the use of our products and ensure the monitoring of results at livestock farms, in order to better assess the effectiveness of these solutions.
